I'll be your friend to end I will yield but not pretend This is very real my dear How can I make you re-appear? Year after year Have no fear The re-issue appears The print is warm The lesson this time No need to scorn This is very real my dear Tear after tear Have no fear There's room for you But can I get through to you? Fractions keep stumbling I'll keep on fumbling numbers Visions can't be heard Except with you and western birds This year I can't be sure they'll sing Plans are forbidden And tears must be forgiven When they're pictures on your wall And summer in the city Don't mean that much to me anymore.

I went on down to North Dakota To see where my folks tilled the land They came from frozen viking grounds But what they build was grand My sweet aunt fixed me toast and tea And told me tales of the sea Who was my clan of exodus And how did I come to be? They worked and trudged those tundra lands And forever looked at the steeple Till one day that lightning struck And God yeah he shifted some people I thought that I was leaving behind All my needles and cups and dimes But sitting on that old Greyhound You won't believe what i'd find The grass was high and the vermin ran Through mountains of trash in the yard Windows shattered that once mattered Oh what has become of this farm? I pinched my nose and grabbed a hose And washed the silt from my eyes And burst on through that kitchen door 'cause there was my big surprise The sink was the colour of the Devil's hide Yeah black as tar on a boot Bottles of poison in a heap Sure ain't much of a loot Then it hit me like a prairie train Delivering a cargo worth spilling Crystal is the choice 'round here But it sure ain't for the thrillin' My proud folks they once dressed in white They'd give you a ride or sing you a song But now this scourge is cookin' here Keeps the man workin' all night long The days are darker and it's nearing time To kiss the babe from Bethlehem But I won't go down to that little farm Smells to me like 'Methlehem'!

Superman flies across the city It's Metropolis City Chest so broad he can lift a Ford Lois Lane can't complain Batman flies across the city It's Gotham City Beatin' the wheeze out of Mr Freeze With so much ease They keep us safe and sound at night So we don't have to put up the fight And oh what world They hold on their shoulders As darkness descents We give thanks for our heroes Spiderman flies across the city It's New York City I think my spidey-sense is tingling Oh what a feeling They keep us safe and sound at night So we don't have to put up the fight And oh what world They hold on their shoulders As darkness descents We give thanks for our heroes

One of these days I’m going to put my books in the oven Maybe that way I can bake tale just for you and me. Cause the news they’re serving’s just not to my taste. This volume needs an edit and a dusting of your grace. All of my cookbooks are dog-eared and oiled. The library detectives are at my door My overdue subscription is raising suspicion. But my cooker is filled with tender words. It seems they’re reporting on a race that doesn’t end Riders are smashing into walls. I can’t drive a Honda I don’t look like Peter Fonda But I can chop and blend with speed. It doesn’t matter to me, ‘cause I can bake Turn to 180 degrees Yeah I can bake. Flip to page 23 Yeah I can bake. Pick the words straight from the tree Yeah I can bake. Set the dial and chops the onions Soon our pages will be steaming. No GMOs in this hefty tome. It doesn’t matter to me ‘cause I can bake My catalogue is tasty Yeah I can bake Dewy decimal pastry Yeah I can bake I’m writing kitchen poetry Yeah I can bake Our story’s as sweet as the sugar cane farm Just bring your glasses and your caramel wink It doesn’t matter to me ‘cause I can bake I’ve got a bibliography Yeah I can bake It doesn’t matter to me Yeah I can bake My library fine is paid and I’m free Yeah I can bake It doesn’t matter to me Yeah I can bake. And keep your eyes peeled for the screenplay…

Ferry coming ‘round again Captain crew not a boat for two Cast aside fall and muscle your way It’s holiday. Meanwhile I’ll be wondering Fish their plundering And everyday oil. But I guess I’m still warm As I conquer grey days Time and wait Before we celebrate And I see you On the other side of rain Until then I’m alone again On the other side of rain We’ll tend to our garden then We’ve been here before It’s like the summer was parole But now we're wading down to the shore And now it's nautical time. There's no palm trees on this side But that’s alright, that’s alright. Salty breeze lifts this song While the sand cuddles your toes While nature nurturers you I’ll be discarding purchases Everything we need to know Will come when we meditate. Time and wait Before we celebrate And I see you On the other side of rain Until then I’m alone again. On the other side of rain We’ll tend to our garden then. We’ve been here before Like when the waves were 10 feet tall No more boring sea wall walks Cause now it’s our nautical time. Two ferries Two ferries can't be wrong Two ferries Two ferries can't be wrong Two ferries Two ferries can't be wrong.

Trap Door 03:29
I’m here tuning in 'cause I’m wondering How you’ve been Yeah how you’ve been Your words are roses Your technique is silver It’s the way you’ve been Yeah the way you’ve been I thought I knew you well You slammed a trap-door to your heart Heavy chains can be unlocked The days are dark Since we’ve been apart You like your men like I love my bands Blue-collar and bearded It’s the way they’ve been Yeah the way they’ve been My books end-up like you play guitar They’re dirty and shredded It’s the way we’ve been Yeah the way we’ve been. I thought I knew you well You slammed a trap-door to your heart Heavy chains can be unlocked The days are dark Since we’ve been apart Get up to go somewhere And stumble in the dark A fixation on a shadow I can see your tiny spark I've digging for so long And I’m breaking out next week Don’t tell the jailor Don't tell the jailor I thought I knew you well You slammed a trap-door to your heart Heavy chains can be unlocked The days are dark Since we’ve been apart

Aerosol Arts 01:52
See you driving down the street Spot the coppers on their beat With the bike lanes you compete It’s Canadian road rage Ours is not a happy planet When you look at who’s been handling it. But colored cans and nimble wrists They’re alright, They’re alright. Where’s Waldo? He’s holding a ladder for Banksy. That’s how he gets his work done His colored cans and nimble wrists They’re alright, They’re alright. They run wild, They spray wild. Van Gogh may have eaten his paints What a fellow He gave us yellow. Ozone layer can stop those rays I'm doing fine Vitamin D9 So spray your paints Open up your hearts With the aerosol arts
